Beef Stew -Stove Top-

Writer's picture: CookinwithStephOCookinwithStephO

Ingredients:

2-4 pounds Chuck Roast or Stew Meat

2-4 carrots, cut in medium pieces

2-4 potatoes, red or russet washed and whole

1 yellow onion, quartered

1/3 cup red wine

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

3 cups beef broth

Salt, pepper, garlic

Directions:

Optional, sear the meat in a heavy bottom pan or cast iron skillet. If using a crock pot add all the ingredients to the crock pot, cook on low for 8 hours.

You could also make this recipe in a Dutch oven style pan on the stove top, or in your oven. Get your Dutch oven nice and hot and sear the meat. Once seared on all sides remove the meat and deglaze the pan with red wine. Add remaining ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil, then simmer on very low heat with the lid on for 55 minutes- 2 hours until the meat falls apart.

Or bake in the oven at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
